From Siloed to Synched: How LanguageWire Helped Roland DG Unify & Centralise Content Localisation Across Europe

Roland DG is a leader in digital printing solutions, offering a diverse range of printers, from compact desktop models to advanced large-format technology. The company also provides cutting-edge digital milling solutions for dental clinics and laboratories through its DGSHAPE subsidiary. And with a “best, not biggest” philosophy, both brands prioritise exceptional product quality, reliability and support.

However, siloed teams and fragmented workflows made managing multilingual content localisation for their diverse product range and global customers more difficult.

So, when Roland DG decided to streamline operations across Europe and shift towards a pan-European business model, it presented an opportunity to also centralise its translation processes. The goal was to maintain high localisation standards whilst breaking down the silos that hindered collaboration and efficiency.

LanguageWire’s solutions were integral to its success.

"LanguageWire has helped us streamline project management, save time, and keep all translation projects centralised, organised and on track."

The Challenge: Inefficiencies, Inconsistencies & Fragmentation

With a presence across the UK, Europe, Ireland, the Americas, and Africa, Roland DG delivers content in at least four core languages, plus an additional six for specific products, including Dutch, Portuguese, Turkish, and Hungarian.

The content can be highly technical, requiring precise industry-specific terminology that must be consistent across all materials. Ensuring translation quality, accuracy, and local relevance is essential.

Before fully partnering with LanguageWire, regional teams managed content processes in silos, each handling them somewhat independently. For example, the Benelux region benefitted from LanguageWire’s advanced solutions, but other teams relied on local agencies or handled everything in-house.

This fragmented approach led to:

  • Inefficient translation management and inconsistent brand messaging.
  • Lower translation quality.
  • Difficulty tracking content, with expired links and misplaced materials.
  • Extra work and subsequent bottlenecks.

Roland DG needed a unified solution to streamline workflows without sacrificing localisation quality and accuracy.

And that’s where LanguageWire came in.

The Solution: Centralising Content Localisation Processes

To support its pan-European strategy, Roland DG integrated LanguageWire’s Content Platform, Smart Editor, API Integration, Sitecore Connector, Machine Translation, and Translation Memory. This helped centralise the company’s content localisation processes and gain more control over workflows.

Key improvements include:

  • Improved Translation Quality: Using a dedicated LanguageWire vendor group that works closely with native speakers ensured consistent quality, accuracy, tone, and local relevance across all content and marketing materials.
  • More Efficient Workflows: Bulk downloads, automated processes and easy content tracking have eliminated unnecessary extra steps and bottlenecks.
  • Enhanced Productivity: Sitecore connector enables rapid content verification across the company’s 11 languages, allowing teams to create just three web pages for an average product launch instead of 33.
  • A Conscious, Global-First Mindset: Teams are more mindful during content creation, with careful consideration over how the nuances of English translate to other languages.

The Translation Memory and Termbase have been particularly invaluable, especially for larger projects that require consistent phrasing and terminology across multiple content pieces. The result? Faster validation times and significant cost savings, which are two key advantages that have made a real difference in project efficiency and budget management.

"We’ve become much more aware of how our content will translate globally. We think about how it will sound in other languages and how to localise it for each market, so it’s not just English-first but globally conscious."

The Results: Greater Multilingual Content Management

Roland DG’s shift to a more global and unified workflow has transformed its ability to manage multilingual content.

What once involved juggling separate regional processes now happens seamlessly through LanguageWire’s platform. The result? Faster product launches, consistent messaging and a more connected team – all without compromising content quality, accuracy and local relevance customers expect.
